England Golf Seeks Public Support for 2030 Women's Golf Showcase Hosting Proposal
The last European vs US women's golf contest held on European soil was in Spain in 2023, with the next tournament set for the Netherlands four years from now.
Following the latest Ryder Cup triumph, England Golf is urging UK authorities to underwrite their proposal to host the Solheim Cup on English soil for the very first occasion.
This elite competition between the leading female golfers from Europe and America has taken place twice in Scotland as well as once in Wales yet never on English territory. A bid has been put together to organize it at the Grove venue within Hertfordshire eight years from now.
But organizers need thirty million pounds to back this proposal and at present only £10m is in place. England Golf is urgently seeking public backing to guarantee the remaining amount.
Financial Needs and Deadline
Discussions to secure Treasury backing started in early spring yet an answer regarding if backing will be granted is time-sensitive. The rights for the 2030 event are held by the International Management Group who require a resolution before month's end.
According to the official documentation, England Golf maintains that securing the event "provides significant benefits for the country".

"We're looking for circa £20m from the government to support the bid," the representative stated.
"This amount in addition to already a significant investment from both venue and ourselves and potentially further investors that we'd look to invest."
Urgent Timeline
The representative declined to confirm that negotiations have reached an impasse, but admitted: "Certainly there exists a dilemma currently with regards to whether the government can fund such tournaments."
"The government has proven, whether it be from a world athletics perspective, including female competitions, that they are ready to provide funding for specific tournaments."
"In my opinion if we could get a positive answer soon, we would be able to win the hosting rights to be staged in England."
He finished: "There is no the money at present; our proposal doesn't move forward. The situation could transform tomorrow if I got approval, yet the deadline remains time-sensitive."
