Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has entered the billion-dollar club for the first time, making him one of the planet's richest actors, according to a recent list.

The 59-year-old total wealth is estimated at a remarkable $1.4bn around £1.03bn, as stated by the 2025 Hurun India Rich List, an regular ranking of the country's richest people.

This places him in the league of international personalities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, musician Rihanna, golfer Tiger Woods, and performer Taylor Swift, whose net worth is estimated at $1.6bn by a leading financial publication.

Further Bollywood stars on the ranking include performer Juhi Chawla, stars Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan and movie maker Karan Johar.

Drivers of Fortune

Commonly known as Indian cinema's romance icon, Khan has spent more than thirty years in the Hindi film industry and evolved professionally from performing on screen to managing a prominent entertainment firm and possessing a sports franchise.

"Khan's wealth achievement is driven mainly by his holdings in Red Chillies Entertainment and his IPL cricket club," the founder at the research firm shared with media.

His other revenue streams include movie profits, commercial deals as well as reported holdings in land assets worldwide.

Economic Impact

Khan's appearance in the rich roster is a reflection of the changing dynamics of India's economic growth drivers, based on the researcher.

"As the nation's economy matures and progresses to its next stage of wealth creation, we are witnessing fresh sources of wealth appear outside established industries like manufacturing, technology and financial services," the researcher commented.

Athletics, entertainment and IP-driven businesses are now "serious sources of wealth creation in India," he added.

According to the expert, this is similar to the development that took place in the America, where billionaire rosters that were once topped by business magnates and bankers now showcase franchise holders, entertainment tycoons and personality-fronted businesses - from Michael Jordan and LeBron James to Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé.

Scarcity of Celebrity Wealthy Individuals

But as per the financial publication, while many stars are extremely rich, "it's unusual for their net worths to reach all the way to billion-dollar status," with fewer than 24 individuals on the globe having achieved that milestone.

Other Bollywood Figures on the List

While a few additional Bollywood stars and their households were included in the ranking this period, Khan's fortune is estimated to be significantly larger.

Juhi Chawla - Khan's film partner in several films - and her relatives are listed at the second position, with a total wealth of $880m.

The list also contains Hrithik Roshan, who positions third with a wealth of $260m, then comes director Karan Johar at about $200m and actor Amitabh Bachchan and his relatives at about $183m.

In last year, Johar made headlines when he divested a half ownership in his production company his company, to tycoon Adar Poonawala - the nation's top pharmaceutical executive - for $119m.

The nation's general number of billionaires has crossed 350 individuals this time, with tycoons Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani holding the leading two places based on the research firm.
